In his novels, he has freely and imaginatively portrayed the history of people and their times. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Yasuhiro Okudaira

A leading scholar in“Freedom of Expression”studies. Professor Emeritus at The University of Tokyo.
 
Makoto Oda
Makoto Oda

Born in 1932.
Active in the Vietnam anti-war movement. Seeks individual compensation for the victims of the Hyogo earthquake.
Shuichi Kato
Shuichi Kato

Born in 1919.
Known for his vigorous critical work and his expertise in cultures East and West. Also a doctor.
Hisae Sawachi
Hisae Sawachi

Born in 1930.
Unearthed the tragic experiences of women in times of war. Also known for her essays.

Shunsuke Tsurumi

Born in 1922.
Led the publication of “Science of Thought”. Developed a flexible system of thought grounded in everyday life.
 
 
Mutsuko Miki
Mutsuko Miki

Born in 1917.
Wife of the late Takeo Miki, former Prime Minister of Japan. President of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society, and active in programs for international exchange.
