@ Expanding A9A network in occupational groups@

@The fifth exchange meeting between representatives of A9A occupational groups and the secretariat was held on January 22nd. Discussion focused on how to sponsor the next Constitution Seminar and the 2nd national exchange meeting this coming September. Eleven representatives told about their activities, with summaries below.

 

1.   Poetsf group

@@@The number of supporters has reached almost 1,000. On February 18th, this group will sponsor a gPoets Get-together.h Two speakers are scheduled to deliver lectures on Nepal and Venezuela.

2.   Prose writersf group

@@@@ The number of supporters has recently exceeded 2,000. This group will sponsor the first meeting of 31-syllabled verse writers on January 28th.@ Noted writers are to give topics and have discussion with participants.

3.   Movie group

@@@ The groupfs A9A mail featured messages from a director and two famous actresses. This group also wants stronger campaigns against the bill for the referendum to revise the Constitution.

4.   Musiciansf group

@@@@@ This group sponsored an Article 9 Concert on December 9th in Tokyo. They plan to hold another concert on March 9th and on June 9th@ in Tokyo and on February 17th in Osaka.

5.   Womenfs group

Womenfs groups have been organized in 15 prefectures. This group is encouraging formation of groups in every prefecture. They are to sponsor a study meeting on January 27th under the theme of gWhat if women should again be forced to support war?h and to present a film showing of gJapan will never join any warh on February 17th.

6.   Sports group@@

@@@@@ This group sponsored a gathering gEvening of singing and exchangeh on December 20th to mark the second anniversary of their founding. They plan to hold their 9th study meeting on January 23rd under the theme gSports as culture for peace and non-violence.h@

In addition, other groups---artists, haiku writers, mass media, scientists, farmers and fishers, and physicians--- each gave a report on their activities.@@
